Etruscan Bronze Vessel Handle
depicting the Etruscan Demon Charun

The thumb spur of this handle depicts the head of the Etruscan daemon Charun, who escorted the soul of the deceased to the afterlife. The stem has a snake-like form terminating in a spaded tail with incised speckling. Choice dark-green patina with lighter highlights

Depictions of Charun are rare, especially in bronze.
