Etruscan Bronze Vessel Handle
depicting the Etruscan Demon Charun

Length: 7 1/2 in.
The thumb spur of this handle depicts the head of the Etruscan daemon Charun,
who escorted the soul of the deceased to the afterlife.
The stem has a snake-like form terminating in a spaded tail with incised speckling.
Choice dark-green patina with lighter highlights
Depictions of Charun are rare, especially in bronze.
